Yesid's Story

As a pastor for 14 years in Bogotá, Colombia, Yesid had received training about leadership, theology and other courses on the function of a church. But when he decided to retire from his work as a policeman and dedicate himself to full-time ministry work, Yesid realized he had never been taught the specifics of planting a church.

When Yesid was told of the opportunity to receive training on the topic from Multiplication Network Ministries (MNM), Yesid felt God was confirming his decision to work full-time in ministry.

Yesid has always been a motivator and he likes to push people to be and to do better than what they are already doing. He did the same with himself when he attended the first training of the More Churches program. In that session, he was so excited to hear he could be capable to plant a church!

"The MNM material showed me how to plant a church. That impacted me immensely," Yesid shared. He continues to supplement his passion to preach the gospel with the tools he acquires in the training.

Yesid is currently working in the neighborhood of Estancia in Bogotá with four families. God has also given him the opportunity to go to the valley of Cauca, an indigenous area on the coast of Colombia. They are now in the process of determining a place to plant the church.

When Yesid recalls his life in the church while still working as a policeman, he realizes he was closed off and comfortable. He did not believe it was necessary to plant more churches, but changing his vision has helped him out of his shell. "I have been motivated to leave the big, beautiful and structured church for the church that shares the gospel and is serious about its responsibility to preach the gospel to this generation."
