Carmen's Story

The difference in the children's behavior was evident not just to their mothers but to the entire community of Nuevo Jerusalén in Alto Trujillo, Peru. "I have seen how God has blessed these children in every way and how He has been faithful in my life. He has surprised us since we began working here in Nueva Jerusalén," Carmen says excitedly.

Carmen works with 25 children whose parents are so thankful for her willingness to work with their children and tell them about God's love. "God has given me so much love for them," Carmen says.

At 54 years old, Carmen feels full of energy. She knows it is the passion and love God gave her for this area that has been the motivation to overcome her fears and bring the Good News to the precious children of the community.

Carmen attended a church planter training with Multiplication Network Ministries (MNM) where she learned how Jesus planted the truth of God's Word on the earth. "I am doing the same," she says.

Through the children, Carmen planted a church in the community called Manatial de Agua Viva (Fountain of Living Water). She is looking for someone to train and mentor to take over the leadership of the church—she desires to plant more communities of faith in other areas.

Carmen began working with just 25 children. Knowing about God's love for them has changed these children so much that the community has taken notice. Someone donated a plot of land to Carmen to build a church so they can move out of the house they are borrowing and into their own worship space. Carmen predicts the change will continue to sweep through the community and that 5,000 members of the community will be impacted by the families of the children God has given Carmen.
