As the pastor continued to preach, Edwyn became more and more interested in what he was hearing. He had only come to the service because a coworker had invited him, but now he was glad he had come. When the pastor invited anyone to come up to pray to receive Jesus, Edwyn felt the desire to do so. But it felt like there were chains around his feet keeping him from walking to the front. He remained in his seat.

The next week, Edwyn returned to church without invitation and was determined to go forward. He received Jesus as his Savior and his heart felt lighter.

“Before knowing Christ, everyone knew me for my temper,” Edwyn says. “I was a person who did not like anyone to say anything to me and if they offended me, I would take out my machete and attack them. I was also jealous and mistreated my family.”

But once Edwyn met the Lord and began to attend marriage classes in the church, his marriage and his family were restored. Although they enjoyed being part of this community of faith that had helped them grow spiritually, Edwyn and his family moved to another area and got involved with the local church there. When the pastor of the congregation saw that Edwyn was available to serve, she invited him to receive training through Multiplication Network as a church planter so he could become a leader in the area where they wanted to plant a new church.

Edwyn accepted and when he received Multiplication Network's church planter training, he was able to learn a few things he didn’t know before about reaching others with the Gospel. He is very grateful to those who trained him—he was always motivated to keep sharing the Gospel with others.

In addition to the training, Edwyn depends on the mentoring he receives from his pastor, Mirna López, who not only motivates him to become a better leader but who also answers any questions he has about establishing a new church.

Edwyn’s church, pictured left, is located in Cerro de la Bandera, Honduras, an area populated by people who do not have a lot of resources but where Edwyn and Mirna have decided to share the Gospel. Edwyn leads a group of about 15 people and a few children in learning more and more about Christ.
