Born Hindu, Now Born Again

Yan was born into a Hindu family in Nepal. He was devoted to his religion and was content to worship the false gods of Hinduism. He had no way of even knowing he was eternally lost.

A Christian friend had been sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with him. Eventually, Yan’s heart was opened and he realized that Jesus is the true God. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior.

However, being a Christian in his culture was not easy from the very beginning. Yan remembers, “When I accepted Christ, my family immediately kicked me out of my home. It was so difficult for me but I was praying for them continually,” he says. His family refused to eat with him or associate with him. “I kept praying with the other believers for my family to turn to Christ. We prayed for a long time. Eventually all of my family became Christians!”

Yan found a new sense of purpose when he joined the church planter training with Multiplication Network Ministries (MNM). “The training has encouraged me to live according to the Word and to give glory to Jesus,” Yan says.

Where Yan lives is a challenging place to reach and is an even harder place to live. This town is in a remote area in west Nepal where the climate is harsh. It has the highest elevation on earth where rice can be cultivated. Physical hardship is a given. Yan also says that his community is “a spiritually dark place that needs to hear the gospel.”

Since completing his church planter training, Yan has shared the gospel hundreds of times.

At first, people were afraid to hear the gospel. There was a shaman in his community who told villagers they should not listen to God’s Word or even be friends with believers. However, Yan found that when he told others the Good News, they were open to hear it and eager to learn more.

“Jesus has done so many amazing works in my community,” Yan says. “The people are amazed to see the power of Jesus.” He shares that more than 40 villagers have now accepted Jesus. They were enslaved by evil but now they are free from darkness. They are growing in their Christian faith. This growth has discouraged the shamans and people are losing their dependency on them. Yan and the others pray for the people who have not yet accepted Jesus. They are such a positive witness and non-believers are coming to ask the church to pray for their problems.

Many who completed the MNM church planter training are now active in telling others the gospel. They pray for the people who have not yet accepted Jesus.

Please consider giving $10, $30 or even $100 to help church planters in Nepal. As you give, they will receive the training needed to learn how to plant more healthy churches and strengthen existing churches. Give today!
