Ranulfo's Story - Mexico

Ranulfo Hernández is a pastor in Panuco, Mexico and has been in ministry for 20 years. A few years ago he experienced a crisis—he felt he had achieved everything and that there was no more to do. His ministry had no purpose.

“I must admit I was doing things on a routine basis. I went to church to preach because of obligation and duty and felt no passion,” says Ranulfo.

Right when he was feeling he couldn’t do anything more, Ranulfo received an invitation from Arturo Robles, one of the national coordinators for Multiplication Network Ministries (MNM) in Mexico. Arturo invited Ranulfo to participate in MNM’s church planter training and through that, God touched his heart and directed him to a vision.

“I learned many things that helped me and gave me a vision and a mission,” Ranulfo says. He began to understand the need to empower other leaders to multiply the work. So he became a multiplier to train others in leading MNM’s church planter modules.

Ranulfo trained seven men from his local church as church planters. “That revolutionized my church because it was not just me working alone. That gave life to our church in the area of evangelism and mission.” And those church planters began training more leaders!

Then Ranulfo took it a step further—he went to his denomination. He challenged the Baptist churches in his region to consider the vision for planting healthy churches and make a change. All but one decided to join the call.

"It's a blessing to work as a team because to begin with, you have to recognize the importance of not working alone. Working alone will always isolate and create a pride that will ultimately end up alienating others spiritually,” Ranulfo shares. “When we look at the Word of God, we find teamwork. Paul lived and ministered as a team and the great servants of the Lord have done great things through great teams. If there is no unity in the body or denomination, even if there are the best structures and projects, nothing will work. The key is unity and love in the Spirit of God.”

From feeling like he had no more purpose, Ranulfo has become energized once again in working for the Lord. He has encouraged more than a hundred people to consider the need for church planting and is excited to continue sharing the vision for More Churches and Stronger Churches.
