One evening in the Tanzanian village of Igogo-Sengerema, 15-year-old Mekritda fell unconscious. She awoke a few minutes later but felt like a very different person. The next morning she realized she lost both her hearing and the ability to speak. Desperate to help their daughter, Mekritda’s parents went to the local witch doctor for help.

Thinking this was their only hope, they sold the witch doctor almost all of their possessions to heal Mekritda, but each day her health only became worse.

Around this time, the Holy Spirit led Pastor James Mashuri to plant a church in this village. He would go hut to hut sharing the gospel. Mekritda’s family heard of this man preaching hope in Jesus and one Sunday morning they came to Pastor James’ church. He prayed for Mekritda’s healing and instantly she began speaking and walking. She was healed!

Everyone was astonished and all who were present prayed to accept Jesus as their Savior. Mekritda’s testimony has been shared throughout the village and Pastor James says this miracle showed the doubting villages the credibility of the gospel.
