Luis' Story

Luis Cruz is the pastor of a Presbyterian church called Divino Salvador (Divine Savior) in Tabasco, Mexico and has been a pastor there for a few years. He shares from his experience that one of the principal challenges with the membership of the church and the leadership was that they didn’t follow the mandate of the Great Commission Jesus gave them.

Nevertheless, Pastor Luis shares that in the More Churches program of Multiplication Network Ministries (MNM), he found not just the motivation to do this but also a process that would allow the local church as well as the denomination to reach their final results. He took the challenge of becoming a trainer/multiplier for his denomination in order to train more church planters.

“The tool that has helped me in the growth of the church is Planting Healthy Churches and the church planter training modules. In the first workshop, I have been able to help others become aware of potential leaders they could send to share the gospel with others. The modules have helped me to be able to prepare the church planters for the work in the field, giving them necessary tools for every one of their needs,” he shares.

Pastor Luis shares that MNM’s tools have allowed him to also collaborate with his local church in small group formation and to help his members become aware of the need and to motivate them. As a result, they have been able to develop evangelism groups, which are believers who create groups where they intentionally share the gospel with new people.

Luis excitedly shares that he has seen a response of acceptance not just in his local church but also in various church planters he has been able to train. He says the challenge has continued to be motivating people to carry out mission work—some have accepted the call and go out to look for areas where there is great need for planting churches, but there is still a lot to do.
