Equipped and Ready

In the community of Los Ángeles, Honduras, there is a colorful house that sits on the side of a dirt road. Peering inside, you can see that the furniture in the living room has been moved and rows of plastic chairs face the front of the room. A simple podium fills the space in the front and Alexis López uses this to share the Word of God with the people who come to learn more about Jesus.

This scene reminds the church planter of a dream he had when he asked God to confirm if this was the place he should go to plant a church. Every time Alexis comes to this house for worship, he remembers this confirmation and recognizes that the journey has been worth it.

It wasn't easy for Alexis to decide to accept the call to be a church planter but one of his mentors was constantly motivating him to fulfill his calling and to share the gospel with others.

"Every time I heard about planting churches, I thought it was a difficult task because I didn't feel prepared," Alexis shares. "But after I went through the training provided by Multiplication Network Ministries and I learned how to get to know the people of the area, how to make a survey, and to see where the need was, I felt more equipped and ready."

This new church has become a place where people can learn about reconciling with God and restoring a personal relationship with Him. Through the discipleship they receive, the people are challenged to make external changes to reflect the internal transformation Jesus gave them.

Alexis' church

One of them is Paz Días, a woman who, despite the adversity she has faced, says she feels happy to be part of this church where she can learn about the Bible with her Christian family. "I really like coming to the church," she says with a smile on her face.

For her husband, René Bonilla, it has also been a special experience. "I feel great and I feel like I have changed. The Lord has called us into His service and I have to be faithful. I am happy to be part of the family of God. Every day I try to live differently for His glory." Paz and René are in the back row of the group picture. She is wearing pink and he is wearing a hat.

In the same way, Luis Padilla, who lets the church use his home as the meeting place, shares that for him it is a blessing to see the members come to meet together. "This house is not mine or my children's. It is the Lord's because He has given it to me and when I die, I'm not going to bring it with me. I wanted to open it up so that we would have a place to meet here in Los Ángeles." Luis is to the right of the lady in yellow in the picture.

Alexis hopes to continue growing with the people who are a part of this church and in the future he anticipates reaching other communities that are close by.
