It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that Tim Maxwell, my dear friend and Multiplication Network’s CFO & VP of Operations, passed away after a multi-year battle with cancer.
Tim served as Multiplication Network’s first and only CFO & VP of Operations, serving since 2010. He brought a wealth of understanding of international ministry finance and ethics to his role.
Tim came to this position with more than 20 years of service with Mission Aviation Fellowship, Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, and Bible League International. Tim was born in West Africa to missionary parents. As a child and young man, Tim lived in five countries where his parents were "impassioned to serve the lay leaders of the church, training them in the Scriptures to be reproducing Christ-followers." The mission of Multiplication Network resonated in Tim's heart.
Under his guidance, Tim helped grow Multiplication Network from a regionalized ministry to a truly global one, overseeing operations, finance, development, communication, HR, and IT at various times. His attention to detail, and ability to answer questions before they were asked, was truly a gift. Tim was also the architect of the powerful database that makes Multiplication Network distinctive and respected among our peers in the church planter training space.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Tim lived every day to the glory of God, praising Him in all circumstances and giving God the glory for each day. He taught us how to persevere in difficult moments with grace, humility, and love. He was a dear friend and he will be deeply missed.
Tim is survived by his wife, Sharon, and their four adult children: Rebekah, Deborah, Hannah, and Samuel. Please keep them in your prayers during this difficult time.
With the family’s blessing, Multiplication Network has established a memorial fund to honor Tim’s service and legacy. The Tim Maxwell Fund for Africa will support the training of church planters in Africa.
